Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on cost, process, permits, and warranty — the way a straight-talking builder should give them.

Below are the questions we hear most from commercial, residential, and agricultural property owners across central and south Texas. Still have a question? Call (361) 786-2288 or request your firm bid.

Trust & Credentials

The questions property owners ask before they trust a contractor with a six- or seven-figure build.

Are you licensed and insured?+

Yes. Structural Solutions Group is fully licensed and insured and operates as a GTO Construction company. We maintain compliance with local building codes across every market we serve in central and south Texas.

What warranty comes with the building?+

Every building includes a 40-year material warranty on the steel, panels, fasteners, and finish systems, plus a one-year workmanship warranty on installation. Because we are a single-source builder, warranty support comes from the same team that built your building — not a subcontractor chain.

How long has SSG been in business?+

SSG is a design-build metal building contractor headquartered in Three Rivers, TX, operating as a GTO Construction company incorporated in 2011. The company was co-founded by Kyle Gee and Ruben Gonzales.

Can I visit an active job site or see completed work?+

Yes. We are glad to arrange a look at work in progress or finished buildings where the owner is comfortable hosting a visit. Call (361) 786-2288 and we will set it up around the project type closest to what you are planning.

Do you use your own crews or subcontract everything out?+

One team handles design, engineering, foundation, steel erection, and project management under one contract. Foundation and concrete work is kept in-house for tighter quality control. That single-source model is the core of how we work — no disconnected trades pointing fingers when something needs to be fixed.

Pricing & Budget

How SSG prices projects, and why a firm bid is different from the estimate most contractors hand you.

How much does a metal building cost?+

Cost depends on size, building type, site conditions, and how finished-out the building is — a shell is very different from a move-in-ready facility. Our projects generally range from about $10K on small structures to $1M+ on large commercial builds. Our Metal Building Cost Guide breaks down the factors that move the number, and a firm bid gives you the exact price for your project.

What is a "firm bid," and how is it different from an estimate?+

A firm bid is a fixed, itemized price you can sign — it locks the cost before ground breaks. An estimate is a ballpark number that tends to grow once work starts and surprises appear. SSG only issues firm bids. What we quote is what you pay, with the scope spelled out in writing.

What's included in the price?+

A firm bid covers design, engineering, materials, foundation, steel erection, project management, and permits for the scope agreed up front. Keeping all of it under one contract is what removes the surprise change orders that come from coordinating separate trades.

Do you offer financing?+

Financing is arranged through outside lenders rather than in-house. Many of our commercial and agricultural customers fund projects through construction loans, SBA lending, or farm credit. Call us and we can point you toward the right kind of lender for your project type.

The Design-Build Process

What it actually looks like to work with a single-source design-build contractor from first call to final walkthrough.

What does "single-source design-build" mean?+

It means one company and one team own the whole project — design, engineering, foundation, steel erection, and finish-out — under a single contract. You have one point of accountability instead of coordinating an architect, an engineer, a concrete crew, and a steel crew yourself.

Do you handle permits and engineering?+

Yes. Stamped engineering and permitting are handled as part of the project. Texas codes and permitting vary by municipality and county, and every building is engineered for Texas conditions — heat, storms, humidity, and the soil at your specific site.

How long does a project take from quote to completion?+

Timelines depend on building size, complexity, permitting in your jurisdiction, and weather. Because design, engineering, foundation, and erection run under one team rather than being handed between separate contractors, the schedule is tighter and more predictable. Your firm bid comes with a realistic timeline for your specific project.

What if I want to make changes mid-project?+

Changes are handled directly with your project manager. Because everything sits under one contract with one team, a change is a single conversation — not a renegotiation across multiple subcontractors. Any scope change is priced and documented before work proceeds.

Can you build a shell only, or do you finish the interior too?+

Both. Projects range from shell-only structures to fully built-out, move-in-ready facilities. Tell us how finished you need the building and the firm bid reflects that scope.

Project Types & Availability

What we build, how big, and where we work across central and south Texas.

What size buildings do you build?+

From roughly 500 sq ft up to 20,000+ sq ft. The same single-source process applies at every size — one team, one contract, one warranty.

What types of buildings do you build?+

Commercial buildings, residential buildings, agricultural and ranch buildings, horse barns, hay barns, riding arenas, barndominiums, RV garages, workshops, and warehouses. If it is a custom-engineered metal building, it is in our wheelhouse.

What areas do you serve?+

Central and south Texas — including San Antonio, Austin, Waco, Corpus Christi, Three Rivers, Stephenville, Victoria, Rockport, Beeville, and the surrounding areas. Our shop is in Three Rivers, which keeps drive times and mobilization costs reasonable across the region.

How far out are you booking?+

Availability shifts with the season — construction in Texas tends to peak in spring and fall, and agricultural demand rises ahead of season changes. Rather than quote a generic lead time, call (361) 786-2288 and we will give you current scheduling for your project.

Is there a minimum project size?+

We build small workshops and garages as well as large commercial facilities. The best way to know if your project is a fit is a quick call — if it is custom-engineered steel in our service area, we want to talk.
